Our Founders – In Memoriam
We remember Fr. Dan Riley, ofm, our founder, along with Fr. Dan Hurley, ofm. In the early days of Mt. Irenaeus, Fr. Dan Riley often recalled Hurls asking the question, “Will anyone ever find us here?” The answer has been a resounding yes for generations.

Fr. Dan impacted generations of people across the country, around the world and, of course, at St. Bonaventure University. We’ve brought together many of the ways he offered himself and the ministry of Mt. Irenaeus to the world and into our hearts.

“Hurls” was with us from the beginning when he accepted Dan Riley’s invitation to be part of the early team that began the Mountain. He resided at the Mountain as a mentor and served as an invaluable connection to St. Bonaventure since he knew so many alumni.
