In honor of the 800th Anniversary of the Passing of St. Francis of Assisi

For 800 years, the witness of St. Francis of Assisi has inspired people to become instruments of peace. His familiar greeting, “Pax et Bonum”—Peace and All Good—was more than a simple hello. It was an invitation to live differently, to seek reconciliation, and to recognize the dignity of every person.

Join us at Mt. Irenaeus for a day of conversation, reflection, and hope as we explore what it means to be peacemakers in today’s world.

Throughout the day, voices from a variety of faith traditions—including Jewish, Muslim, Christian, and Seneca perspectives—will share how their communities understand peace and reconciliation. Through a keynote presentation, panel discussion, breakout conversations, and a shared meal, participants will have the opportunity to listen deeply, ask questions, learn practical skills for peacemaking, and encourage one another.

This is an intergenerational gathering where wisdom and experience meet new energy and fresh perspectives. Whether you have spent a lifetime working for peace or are just beginning to ask what your role might be, you are welcome.

Rather than giving in to discouragement or believing that one person cannot make a difference, Pax et Bonum invites us to take the next faithful step together. Peace begins in our own hearts, grows within our communities, and reaches into our world through ordinary people willing to listen, understand, and act with compassion.
