Special SBU Orientation Retreat at Mt. Irenaeus
July 16 - July 17
SBU Students who have already expressed an interested in hearing about the various ways to get involved at SBU, please register below. Those who are not already on our list, but you are interested, please contact Br. Kevin Kriso at [email protected] or 716-375-2096 to inquire about available space.
On Sunday, July 16th, we’ll meet at St. Bonaventure in the McGinley-Carney Center for Franciscan Ministry at 9:00 am. It’s located in the heart of campus, and the closest parking is on the Richter’s outside basketball courts.
Please be prompt because we need to get back for Mass at the Mountain.
Transportation up to Mt. Irenaeus will be provided for you. Dress casually and comfortably for the summer weather. We will take a hiking tour of Mt. Irenaeus, hear about the various ways to get involved in ministry at St. Bonaventure, and do some light service work together. You should bring a change of clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty as well as comfortable walking sneakers. There is a pond where you can go swimming, so bring a bathing suit if you are interested! We will sleep overnight in the cabins at Mt. Irenaeus. Bedding and linens are available, or you may use the sleeping bag/pillow you’re bringing for Orientation. You also may want to bring a sweatshirt as it occasionally gets cold at night.
We will return to campus the next morning, July 17 by 10:30 a.m. You can meet your family in the Shay/Lo Hall so that you can get checked in and settled before your Orientation begins.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call or e-mail us using the contact info above, and please let us know if you have any food allergies/restrictions.
I hope you are excited for Orientation and the retreat at Mt. Irenaeus, our entire University Ministries Team is looking forward to meeting you!
We will send out a reminder e-mail again in July so you don’t need to worry about the details yet! Just know that we are looking forward to meeting you!
If you’re spending time with us and wish to share some of your pictures, please use the hashtag #mtirenaeus or email them to [email protected] so we may use them on the website, social media and in printed publications. Thanks!
