“God’s House is all of Creation”

May 9, 2026
2-4:00 pm
Mt. Irenaeus House of Peace

The Council for Spirit and Life, Weekends and More Branch invite you to spend time on the land.  All are welcome!

We will walk on Mountain Trails in contemplation while being guided by “The Canticle of the Creatures,” written by St. Francis of Assisi around 1224 “as a personal act of praise and thanksgiving to God for the beauty and mystery of creation.”

Franciscans are dedicated to the care of creation, seeing all creatures as brothers and sisters. Saints Francis and Clare had a relational understanding of creation. All creatures, from the smallest to “our Sister, Mother Earth,” were sisters and brothers, part of the very family of God.

This is an opportunity to experience God in Creation, and also celebrate Mother Nature on Mother’s Day Weekend.

We hope you will be able to join us as part of the 800 year remembrance of the death of St. Francis.

As with any walk in the woods, good shoes, a water bottle, and walking sticks are recommended. The pace will be leisurely, with some uphill in the beginning. Directions to Mt. Irenaeus and the House of Peace are on the Mountain website www.mountainonline.org
